DEBORAH
ELENTER
The intimate, human bonds, women’s issues, and one's own existence are the themes that I explore in my practice based on personal experiences. Particularly, I investigate childbirth as a fundamental moment in a person's life and its significance as a political space and moment. I am a certified community doula, and create intimate and close bonds with the people I work with, accompanying and documenting their existence and fragilities.

I am inspired by the intention to deconstruct existing patriarchal concepts regarding childbirth and use the voice of the protagonists to create realistic narratives. In my practice I seek to question and challenge, promoting discussion and reflection about the topics addressed.

From documentary photography or through interventions and alterations in prints, as well as experimentation in painting, my work positions life and death in the voice of women.
